Earth Hour 2010

Like every year as of late, the WWF is organizing the Earth Hour Event. A month ago, our Riviera Maya resort received an invitation to participate from MARTI (a Mesoamerican reef preservation program), who we have been working with from the very beginning.

We wanted to make all of our Palladium Hotels & Resorts in America part of this initiative from the WWF since we recently signed a cooperation agreement with the EC3 (Earthcheck/Green Globe).
This organization helped and guided us through our Green Globe certification in our Riviera Maya resort (the very first of our destinations with probably the most prestigious sustainability recognition).

We also participate in similar programs sponsored by our main partners (TUI, THOMSON, THOMAS COOK, VACANCES AIR TRANSAT, etc.) Thus, on March 27 from 08:30 PM to 09:30 PM (local time), all of our resorts will take action, supporting this initiative. Some of the areas that will be turned off in our resorts will be the following:

• Exterior villa lights
• Non indispensable lighting in the walk ways.
• Main resort access
• Air conditioners in all rooms
• Lobby palatal lights
• Lobby and theater fans
• Dimming restaurant lights, leaving only the necessary amount of light
• Interior pool jacuzzi light
• Mini golf lamp posts
• Spa lights and machinery
• Sports Center lights
• Peripheric lamp posts
• Balcony lights
• Various internal measures

Our guests will be informed of these activities through flyers left in every room the 26th and 27th, as well as by posters placed in strategical locations in every resort.

That same day at 07:30 PM, there will be a special party with live music. Also, a video based on the produced by the WWF will be projected in our theaters to inform the guests.
