Ongoing & Upcoming Events at Hekab Be Biblioteca de Akumal

If you’re passing by HB on a Thursday evening, don’t be surprised to hear the sounds of salsa music! No, there’s not an after-hours party going on, it’s our weekly salsa lessons, held every Thursday at 6 p.m., which we have added as part of our continuing effort to expand services for adults in the community. Expert salsa dancers Javier Garcia, who works at Villas Flamingo, and Fausto Pacheco, who works at Club Akumal Caribe, come to teach the class in exchange for a small donation from students. So far, there are about 8 students coming on a regular basis. If you’re in town and want to check it out, feel free to come on by.

In coming months we also hope to start offering a zumba class. If you are a zumba instructor or have a zumba dvd that you’d be willing to share with us, that would help us be able to train a local instructor, so please let us know.
